Corvette C5 parts

The C5 Corvette comes in a variety of options from Coupe to Convertible to the Z06 model.  The Fixed Roof Coupe of FRC model was available in 1999-2000 and made way for the Z06 model from 2001-2004.  The C5 Corvette was the first generation of Corvette to feature the third generation small block LS engines. 

The Base C5 Corvette had impressive power numbers for the model years starting off with 345 horsepower in 1997 with an increase to 350 horsepower in subsequent years.  The Base and Convertible models had a 0-60 time of approximately 4.5 seconds.  They would also complete the standing quarter mile in approximately 13.3 seconds with a top speed of 108 mph.  Both of these numbers are based on the 6 speed manual transmission.  The C5 Corvette was also the last generation to feature the pop up headlights.

The Z06 model utilized an LS6 engine which had some upgrades from the Base Model LS1.  The LS6 upgrades included a different intake manifold, stiffer valve springs and a different cam to produce higher horsepower and torque numbers.  The LS6 also had a higher compression ratio of 10.5:1 against the LS1 compression ratio of 10.1:1. The 2001 Z06 LS6 was rated to 385 horsepower and 385 ft-lb of torque.  Starting in 2002 the LS6 saw an upgrade to 405 horsepower and 400 ft-lb of torque.  The transmission in the 2001-2005 model year Z06 included different gear ratios and aluminum shift forks in place of the heavier steel shift forks in the other C5 models.

There were also an Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Replica that was produced in limited numbers in 1998 to commemorate the 7th time a Corvette had been the official pace car.  There was a total of 1,163 replicas produced of the purple and yellow convertible.  The Corvette featured the LS1 engine with 345 horsepower and 345 ft-lbs of Torque.

Between 1997 to 2004, a total of 248,715 total C5 Corvettes were produced.  This makes it one of the most accessible cars available in the current market. The C5 Corvette is a favorite of both weekend drivers and track enthusiasts.  For racing, Pratt & Miller produced a C5-R model with a longer wheelbase, wider stance, 7.0L engine and modified bodywork to run in the Lemans GTS class.  The C5-R was raced between 2001 to 2007 leading enthusiasts to pursue the car.
